VH1 Dear Mama

Overview

VH1 partnered with Tom Bercu Presents to design and produce “Dear Mama,” a televised Mother’s Day concert in New York City. What began as dinner décor quickly expanded into full production, including the stage set and the venue’s exterior. The result was a breathtaking transformation of St. Bart’s Cathedral into a floral wonderland.

The Challenge

Producing a live televised concert for a global audience required precise coordination and creative design. VH1 requested a Mother’s Day setting that felt heartfelt yet visually bold for television. The team staged 68,000 roses in a New Jersey warehouse, then transported them to a Cathedral on Park Avenue in New York City using 26 refrigerated box trucks. Despite heavy rain, strict timelines, and no loading dock, the crew completed installation in just 8 hours, transforming the space into a stunning floral environment worthy of broadcast.

The Approach

To create a design that stood out on camera and captured the essence of Mother’s Day, Tom Bercu Presents built a floral wonderland that began at the valet, extended up the Cathedral stairs, through the lobby, into the dining area, and across the stage. All flowers were sourced in a matching color palette, requiring coordination with dozens of providers. A New Jersey warehouse, the size of a football field, was rented to pre-build framing and coordinate logistics, ensuring seamless execution despite the challenges.

Execution

The transformation involved 68,000 live roses meticulously installed throughout the Cathedral for an audience of 250 guests. Every corner of the venue was immersed in a single floral vision that served as both a stage backdrop and a dinner setting.

Results & Impact

The production stunned VH1 and its viewers. The Cathedral filmed beautifully, and the immersive floral design created a memorable, emotional atmosphere that elevated the televised Mother’s Day special. The scale and creativity of the installation left both the client and the live audience in awe.
